Spello is located 6 kilometers from Assisi; it is a small Umbrian village that lies at the foot of Mount Subasio and retains ancient origins. Its beauty has been recognized since the time of Emperor Augustus,who had renamed it the Most Splendid Colony Julia. Yesterday as today, this small territory, gives us a wonderful, unprecedented and extraordinary landscape, set like a precious treasure among the winding valleys of Umbria, a place of incredible beauty capable of intoxicating and overwhelming the senses. Recognized and awarded as one of the “most beautiful villages in Italy,” it is also the place where the infiorata is celebrated, which transforms the ancient village into a painting covered with carpets and pictures that color and perfume the streets of the old town for more than 1,500 meters. These art masterpieces are a tribute to the religious festival of Corpus Christi.
